The top 10 mistakes Australian dentists make with their marketing (Part 4)

In this last video of a series on the top marketing mistakes dentists are making, this week on Marketing Monday, the founder of Dental Profit System, Angus Pryor will tell you the BIGGEST, most common mistake that “entredentists” can make.

Good morning entredentists. Angus Pryor here, creator of the Dental Profit System and coauthor of the Kindle crushing book “The Better Business Book”, bringing you this week’s Marketing Monday, the weekly show designed to boost the marketing at your dental business.

Now today it’s mistake number 10. As you maybe be aware we’ve had a series. Today is the last in our series of looking at top 10 mistakes that dentists make in their marketing. Today, number 10 and I’m going to spend a whole show talking about number 10.

And the 10th mistake that I see, drum roll please. The 10th mistake that I see dentists making in their marketing is not getting professional help. Now before you write this off as some kind of self-serving statement from me, let me tell you a little bit more why I say this.

When you’re first out in business you’ve got to bootstrap, you got to do stuff yourself and I get that and I’ve been through that process myself. But as your business grows, it’s important to be getting experts in each part of the business to help you. The reality is if you continue to do everything yourself, your business is not going to grow. In fact, you’ll become the bottleneck which is causing things to slow down and so on. And I’ve certainly had that experience in my own business.

Now as a case in point, when I started Dental Profit System a number of years ago I did everything myself. I did the ad work, I did the graphic design. Thank god I didn’t build any websites. There was a whole bunch of stuff that I did. And the results that I produced were kind of okay but not great.

And I have to say to you with the greatest respect, if you’re not a marketer then I’m prepared to bet money that the results you’re producing in your marketing, if you’re doing it by yourself, are probably okay at best. But if you’re really looking to grow your business, if you’ve really got the spirit of being an entredentist, well you don’t want okay results from your marketing. You want great results from your marketing. And so I have to say to you, with the greatest of respect, get some experts in to actually give you the help you need and get the boost that you need.

Once upon a time as we know, you could just stick out your sign and put something in the yellow pages and you were sorted. But that is not the case anymore. I’m getting calls from dentists every week bemoaning the competition that’s in their local area. Well, you can either put your head in the sand and pretend it’ll go away or you can do something about it. And part of that means getting some expert help.

Now fortunately it’s easy for me to say, “Well, get some expert help.”, and not do anything. But for the action-takers, and I love the action-takers, if you want some help then normally if you were spending an hour on the phone with me for this particular session that we have, the charge would be $497.

However, for a limited time and very limited places, and I’m not kidding, if you saw my schedule you’d understand. I’m heading to the US in a couple of weeks time, presenting over there at a conference, so between now and then there is a handful of places where I’m prepared to spend with you an hour and we’re going to spend an hour looking at the marketing at your practice, find out what’s working well, what’s not, and actually leave you with a plan that you can implement at the end of the hour together.

But the only way you can do that is to head to dentalprofitsystem.com. There’s a spot there you can fill in your details. And as I say, there is a handful of appointments. There might be two or three. It wouldn’t be more than that.

So that’s the final one in the series looking at the top 10 mistakes that dentists make with their marketing and today it’s about getting expert help. And rather than just give you that advice and not offer anything, there’s a chance for you if you want to take advantage of it. I can assure you it’s not the big sell. There’s no obligation or anything. I just really like helping people. Otherwise, from me Angus Pryor, until next week signing off. Catch you then.
